12/12/2017 - An interview with Master Sgt. Eric R. England, Vietnam War veteran and U.S. Marine sniper with 98 confirmed kills (2nd highest Marine sniper of the Vietnam war. He was born on December 8th, 1933 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1950. By 1952, he was a Nationals rifle shooting champion, and in 1968 a long-range champion. During his illustrious career as a competitive shooter, he also earned the LEECH CUP (oldest competitive shooting trophy in the U.S.). He served in the Vietnam War in I Corps. A book, "THE PHANTOM OF PHU BAY", was written about him during this period and details many of his incredible skills. After the war he continued his career in the Marine Corps and retired as a Master Sergeant having served 24 years. He's a cousin of Marine Major Edward James Land (the father of the MARINE CORPS SCOUT SNIPER program). NORTH KOREA: The Most Daring Escape Captured on Camera
November 13, 2017 - Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of a North Korean soldier daring escape through the DMZ at the JSA site. The KPA defector uses a military vehicle to cross the 72-hour Bridge. Unfortunately, the defector gets the vehicle stuck along the row of JSA buildings. The KPA initial response is to chase after. The defector makes a run south across the MDL as KPA soldiers engage him with direct fire. A KPA soldier briefly crosses the MDL before returning back to the north side of the JSA. The JSA security battalion’s rescues the defector just prior to his medical evacuation for treatment.

Russian jet fighter intimidates American aircraft incident 1/29/2018
JANUARY 29, 2018 AT 6:31 PM UTC U.S. Navy video of a U.S. EP-3 Aries aircraft flying Jan. 29, 2018, in international airspace over the Black Sea being intercepted by a Russian Su-27. This interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the Su-27 closing to within five feet and crossing directly through the EP-3's flight path, causing the EP-3 to fly through the Su-27's jet wash. The duration of the intercept lasted two hours and 40 minutes. The U.S. aircraft was operating in accordance with international law and did not provoke this Russian activity.

101st AIRBORNE First to Fire the M17 M18 MHS Modular Handgun System (SIG P320)
Soldiers of the 101st test firing the M17 pistol at the range on Dec. 5, 2017. These Soldiers are among the first to fire the Army's new handgun. According to the Army, the MHS program is the first in a line of modernization efforts that the service will pursue over the next few years. The M17 replaces the M9 pistol, the standard Army sidearm since 1986. The M18 is a compact version of the M17. The new handguns also have an external safety, self-illuminating sights for low-light conditions, an integrated rail for attaching enablers and an Army standard suppressor conversion kit to attach an acoustic/flash suppressor. The M17 and M18 pistols are manufactured by Sig Sauer, who earned the $580 million contract to produce the weapons in January after winning the Army and Air Force's modular handgun competition.

Some of the skills showcased are rappelling, rope sliding and stretcher making while alternatively allowing the Marines to rely on squad-level leadership to determine the most effective way to overcome the four-mile course.

C-RAM: 20mm cannon fires 4,500 Round/Minute to intercept enemy artillery
C-RAM (Counter-Rocket, Artillery, Mortar) LPWS ( Intercept Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System) is a modified Navy CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) designed to intercept enemy indirect fire. It is mounted on a 35-ton semitrailer and is composed of the M61A1 20mm Gatling gun that is capable of firing 4,500 rounds per minute. The system is optimized to use the M940 ammunition that is designed to self-destruct beyond 2,000 meters to minimize collateral damage.

May 3rd, 2012 - Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a boat raid during Exercise Balikatan in the Philippine Islands. The exercise was comprised of bilateral training in infantry tactics, patrolling, amphibious assaults and jungle survival. The aim was to improve the interoperability of U.S. Marines and the Philippine Armed Forces. The completion of this exercise marks the end of 1/4's time as the BLT of the 31st MEU.

Marines with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force gasp through an eight-week Marine Corps Combatant Divers Course at Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. Six instructors from the Navy Diving and Salvage Training Center, in Panama City, Florida, attempted to tear the Marines out of their comfort zone. During one portion of the training, the instructors simulated rough seas by ripping off the students goggles, cutting off their air supply, and disorienting them.
